If the carpeting in your car became saturated over the winter, as a result of snow and slush being tracked inside, follow these easy, frugal living friendly tips and clean up your car for spring:
First, use a shop vac to soak up any excess water. Then, unscrew the plastic scuff panel by each door and lift the carpet. If there’s any residual water under the carpeting, use your shop vac to suck it up and then place sheets of newspaper underneath the carpeting to absorb the rest of the water. If possible, prop up the carpeting using a small Tupperware container or other object and leave it for as long as possible so that air can circulate underneath. Otherwise, continue to check and change the newspaper daily until all of the water has been absorbed.
This is a simple way to get your car ready for spring and maintain the life of your car’s interior.
